Election Day 2026

And, of course:

I Voted

Hope you did, too. I noticed, and folks working at the polling place confirmed, there was a larger-than-normal turnout. I actually had to wait for a few minutes. Hopefully a good sign! Now the waiting begins…

Hope we know the broad results (control of the house and senate) in the next day or so. If it lingers, it will encourage interference.

It would be a lot to hope for, but a major blue wave might make interference a real uphill battle.

We’re all holding our breath now…

Hopefully it’s a wave that’s evident tonight or tomorrow. If it takes extended counting of mail-in ballots for it to manifest, we might be in for a long few days/weeks.

        Definitely holding my breath.

That’s exactly what I’m hoping. The early results show a landslide. Might be wishful thinking, but I tend to hope for the best (which, yeah, is often disappointing but I was raised to have a positive outlook).

Just remember the breath-holding is metaphorical! 😵

In Michigan, you can vote by mail or dedicated drop-box. That makes it convenient to look up obscure judges and public-university regents / board members. Not to mention that I work and commute on Tuesdays during most of the available hours.

We have various forms of early voting here (in Minnesota), too. I considered voting early this year, but time slipped past, and I never got around to it (a downside of being retired; days can get away from you, and old age makes time pass faster).

There is also that I just like going on election day; I like the energy level and sense of community. And, being retired since 2013, I can pick my time and go between the early morning commuters and older folk who show up later. (I live in a small outer suburb, and if I pick my time right, there’s no wait.)

Well, it all worked out pretty well for Democrats last night. It seems American can finally have had enough.
