Fell asleep reading a Nero Wolfe novel and woke up to a new world. Pennsylvania and Nevada called, Arizona still breaking for Biden/Harris…
Pretty nice thing to wake up to!
We can finally start waking up from this nightmare. We have a long way back to climb, and cutting the head off the beast won’t kill the body. We’re still a very divided country in our views, thoughts, and hearts.
But damn it’s been nice hearing Biden speak these last few days. It’s nice to hear an American President speaking. It’s been a long time we’ve been listening to a damn clown — a national joke that became a national disgrace and embarrassment.
§
Think of this election and all that led up to it as the first book of a trilogy — The Quest for America’s Soul.
Now comes the second book, which features various battle scenes and conflicts resulting from the major battle in the first book.
Finally, we hope, comes the third book, in which the heroes begin to knit back together a world based on a better view of ourselves and others.
§
At least, that’s the author’s outline that sold the series. Here’s to hoping to see the whole series (and possible sequels)!
Yay America! A lot of us can finally unclench and start breathing again.
And I can finally open that bottle of champagne!
Stay voting, my friends! Go forth and spread beauty and light.

Bets on whether the Lame Duck flees the country to avoid legal prosecution?

Daylight at last.

It’s like waking up from a really bad nightmare. The last four years seem like an argument in favor of the Virtual Reality Hypothesis — shit so surreal that it almost has to be an edge case simulation someone was running to see what would happen in this one really weird improbably case…
November 7th, 2020 at 7:16 pm
Ha, I recently posted on the Simulation Theory. And your theory has merit and should be considered.

I can just see them laughing their asses off at such a clownish scenario.
November 7th, 2020 at 3:57 pm
I sure hope this isn’t the end of the first book. The middle book is usually the darkest part. 😮
Enjoy the champagne!
Maybe he’ll go live in Russia with Putin. Or with the dear leader in North Korea. Good riddance either way.
November 7th, 2020 at 7:14 pm
Sometimes the middle book is just really boring as the author moves pieces around for the events in the third book. So far the attacks of the enemy against the election process have been of little account — easily dismissed.
I’m hoping the middle book is boring. But it could well have some twists…

I still can’t believe it. It feels like something bad is gonna happen. Especially when Trumpies were out in Phoenix yesterday armed with guns and Sharpie markers. 😉

The ideal would be that the wind falls from their sails and they just kind of… fade away. Their Beloved Leader is all yammer and no substance, so perhaps they are, too.

Wow, the WP notification widget (the bell) kind of sucks for Likes. I’m kind of drunk, so maybe it’s me.

I primed the pump with three tasty Lagunitas IPAs because their logo is a dog and Twitler hates dogs. (Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!) Now I’m onto the long awaited champagne waiting to hear our new President (and actual American President) speak.
Yay!

BTW: Finished the Nero Wolfe novel. The Bad Guy did it.

Shhhhh! Our new VP is speaking! (Talk about tears of joy.)
November 7th, 2020 at 7:39 pm
I’m remembering how proud I was of US when Barack Obama was elected. Listening to Kamala Harris speech, I’m weeping those same tears of pride and joy. Painful inch by painful inch, we oh so slowly become better versions of ourselves.
“America is ready. And so are Joe and I.” Right fucking on!
November 7th, 2020 at 7:42 pm
President(-elect) Biden: “My fellow Americans…”
How long has it been since we hear that phrase with any honesty? (Oh, yeah, right. Four years.)
November 7th, 2020 at 7:44 pm
The tragedy of where this great country has found itself is that P45 got a single term. The hope for this country is that it was just one term.
November 7th, 2020 at 7:58 pm
Kamala Harris. 😍😍😍
November 7th, 2020 at 7:58 pm
Joe Biden. 😍😍😍

Great speeches by our elects. Also, side note, I’m very drunk.

Still awake (or conscious, anyway). Why is MSNBC showing states like Illinois now? Or Iowa? I’ve long thought the MSNBC producers were on a weird wavelength.
November 7th, 2020 at 9:13 pm
Here’s a terrifying question: What does a frustrated man-baby with the power of the Presidency do between now and the Inauguration?
November 7th, 2020 at 9:42 pm
Al Franklin on MSNBC. That guy got a raw deal. (How am I still conscious?)
November 7th, 2020 at 9:45 pm
Ah! Time to bring out and finally finish that coffee-infused tequila liquor. I way prefer the coffee-infused rum, and coffee-infused vodka is… okay, but coffee-infused tequila turns out to be [a] an acquired taste (and I have acquired it) and [2] something I only like in certain situations. Mainly when I’m already sheeted.
November 7th, 2020 at 9:45 pm
(As in “three sheets to the wind.” One of these days I really have to write that post about all the terminology we have for being drunk.)

Just think of Mr. Cable TV Addict watching all the celebration of his defeat.
Remember how one of his Paleolithic lies involved people celebrating 9/11? It’s a petrified bit of shit beneath all the fresh bullshit he’s shoveled on us in the past four years, but some of us remember. (Remember his “birther” bullshit? Pure racism.)
Well, here ya go fuckwad. People celebrating on rooftops because you’re a Loser. They aren’t celebrating Joe’s win; they’re celebrating your loss. Finally we’ve defeated evil.
November 7th, 2020 at 10:40 pm
Tonight’s joy is tainted by the discovery that my one remaining friend from high school voted for P45. Somehow, despite all our chats these many years, that never came up (she lives in California). I’m… devastated, crushed. She’s intelligent and rational and a Christian.
It’s the second time this month I’ve encountered someone who, in my view, doesn’t get it. This isn’t about conservative versus progressive, or Right versus Left, or any other normal political contrast. This is about evil. This is about the destruction of the value this country was founded on. It’s utterly beyond me how anyone doesn’t get that.
There are so many specific points on which to condemn P45. How does any mother accept ripping children from their mothers and putting them in in FUCKING CAGES? How does any person of color accept clear racism? How does anyone of character and honesty accept the utter lack of character and constant dishonesty?
How do 70 million people still think P45 is a good idea?
November 7th, 2020 at 10:54 pm
To be clear, there are things that are matters of opinion, and ultimately nothing more can be said. But it’s possible to transcend such matters and get into territory with a clear choice if one subscribes to the normatives of human art, literature, and religion. (Of course, if one repudiates those values, bets are off.)
So one question is whether people are too ignorant to understand the import of their allegiance and tribe, or do they understand and buy into to the full import of that allegiance?
(Put another way, are people just stupid or are they actively evil? Hanlon’s Razor suggests we should assume the former. Which is what I’ve been saying for over 40 years: people allow themselves to be stupid. And this is what we get.)

Just simply one of the best bands ever. I just love these guys:
And the tune is so appropriate, although in my case it’s “the beer, the champagne, the coffee-infused tequila,…” But otherwise, right there with ya.
