Now showing at the Heaven’s Gate Theatre:
Bacall’s famous line from To Have and Have Not is the all-time sexiest line in movie history! “You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together — and blow.”
My reaction matches Bogie’s every time! Hoooo-eeee!!
And at the Heavenly Comedy Club:
But tickets to these shows… are a little tricky to come by. On the other hand, you have plenty of time to get there and see them. They run every night (with matinees on weekends) … forever!

Born Betty Joan Perske, she was really something special. Beautiful and elegant throughout her life. Funny thing: both she and my mom just barely missed making it to their 90th birthday.

Don’t forget to catch Philip Seymour-Hoffman at The Celestial Theatre folks!

Oh, yes, indeed! He’s doing a play with James Garner Elaine Stritch and Bob Hoskins! Directed by Harold Ramis, so it sounds really great!!

I am so sorry, I had heard someone mention the Heavenly Comedy Club, so I wrote a comment on someone’s post. Your post of yesterday was not my reference point. I feel that this was such a great tribute to several of the greats!
I wondered if you knew that Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart got married at Malabar Farm, Bromfield’s home up around Mohican Park in Ohio? I am not sure if it is Louis B. nor the town. I have been there a few times and remembered the staircase that Lauren is photographed on, in her wedding dress there. Hugs for this memorial post and gotta go! Out to eat with grandchildren and keeping them occupied afterwards at a park, while parents get a ‘date night’ for a few hours! Smiles, Robin

I’m glad you liked my little “play bills,” but I’m not sure what you’re apologizing for?
No, I was unaware of any details regarding Bacall and Bogart’s marriage!

I was afraid you would see my post comment on another’s where I mentioned the Heavenly Comedy Club, thinking you may have thought I was ‘copying’ you! I had just added that the “Big Guy Upstairs is probably laughing at Robin Williams’ jokes, while the rest of the guys are ready to get on stage for their chance to get Him smiling.” Something like that. I realize now you wouldn’t have felt I was in any way, ‘copying’ you, but I just was worried for a moment. Thanks for saying no need to apologize, W.S.!

Well, no, I hadn’t seen that comment of yours, and even if I had, how do you know I wasn’t copying you! 😀

Enjoy your weekend, W.S.! thanks so much for your great additions to the television Originality is a Plus, post!

You, too! (Although, in my case, being retired, “weekends” have lost some of their meaning! 🙂 )
August 18th, 2014 at 5:22 pm
I forgot about that! Weekends, not meaning as much, now that you are retired. Well, presumably, there may be events or something that occurs on other’s days off, you may indulge in, too. Like I went to the gazebo concert on Sunday night, to hear the Worthington Concert Band play. Even if I were retired, it was held on a Sunday from 7 pm until 8, so that those who needed to follow the old adage of, “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man….”

Ah, yes, I know that quote. “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man… boring!!” XD
But for me, all seven days are “the weekend,” so any event any time always happens on the weekend! (It’s just that the stores are a little bit more crowded on two of those weekend days.)

And Joan Rivers just joined the lineup at the Comedy Club! Now I have to re-do the placard!
October 14th, 2014 at 2:37 am
I wondered if you made that – cool!!

Me and my handy-dandy Paint Shop Pro! I wanted to re-do the Comedy Club one anyway, as I’d meant to include Richard Prior, but the font size I used caused me to run out of room.
