Good to the Last Drop

Some years ago, I posted Perfect Albums, which listed some music albums where I loved (not just liked) every song on the album. In my experience, that’s an exception to rule. Typically, I find an album has a few songs I love, a few I wouldn’t put on a playlist, and the rest are various shades of likeable.

Much longer ago, Folger’s Maxwell House coffee had the slogan, “Good to the last drop!” Caroming off the idea of Perfect Albums being rare and special, it occurred to me that TV shows that were “good to the last drop” — good throughout their run — are also rare and kinda special.

So, I made a list of some winners. And notable losers.

The Morningstar Sets

Last weekend I watched the final episodes of Lucifer, a show I’ve really enjoyed since it began in 2016. It’s based on a DC comic book character created by Neil Gaiman, and I’ve always liked his work, so it’s not surprising I’ve enjoyed this series. On top of that, it blends a bunch of my favorite story genres, plus it gets right one of the most important aspects for such fantastic stories: it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

In honor of the show ending I thought I’d also mention a couple other favorite shows I’ve been re-watching lately, Elementary and Boston Legal. I’ve always ranked the latter as a favorite favorite, but seeing the former again I’m experiencing the love all over again.

Got a couple of Japanese anime stories to mention, as well.

Too Much TV?

TV ToadSome months ago, someone commented that I apparently watched a lot of TV. A recent Nielsen report claims the average American watches 5 hours per day, although age and race are factors. Children (2-11) watch a bit over 24 hours per week, and those 65 and older watch over 50 hours per week. It’s apparently close to a flat line with a dip in the teens.

My 50-64 age group supposedly watches nearly 44 hours per week (6.3 hours per day). For this TV Tuesday post, I thought it’d be interesting to see just how much I actually do watch.
